SANKALP The B-Plan Contest

Sankalp TAPMI s Business Plan formulation contest, provides a platform to capture the creativity and nurture the dreams of budding entrepreneurs. TAPMI was the first management institute to initiate a B-Plan contest for Indian B-Schools and has through the years gained immense participation and popularity. The contestants are evaluated by the industry experts and the intellectual capital of TAPMI. The contestants also get a chance to interact with them.

One of the most prestigious events at Atharva, the Young Business Leader contest consists of one of the most rigorous frameworks for testing the leadership skills of the contestants. Spread over three days, it will test the Managerial Skills, Business Skills, Inter-personal Skills and other Personal competencies of the contestants. The overall selection of the Young Business Leader is based on a comprehensive assessment centre developed exclusively for this event. The assessment centre will ensure objectivity and accuracy in the evaluation through a series of events that includes role-plays, live projects, case studies, games and presentations

Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) and the Manipal University, comprising of educational institutions, including the Manipal Institute of Technology , Manipal Institute of communication, MIM Manipal Institute of Management , Manipal Center for Information Science (MCIS Manipal), Kasturba Medical College, Manipal (KMC, Manipal), Manipal Life Sciences Center (MLSC), the Manipal campus of Melaka Manipal Medical College (also known as International Centre for Health Sciences or ICHS), the Manipal College Of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MCOPS) , the Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA) and Dr. T.M.A Pai Polytechnic . The spectrum of educational institutions covers everything from elementary schools to professional and graduate level colleges. National Institute of Technology of Karnataka (NITK), Suratkal is only 40km away from Manipal.

In the late '60s ,the Union Government of India honoured Dr. Pai with the Padmashri. In the year 1999 the Posts and Telegraph department of the Government of India released a commemorative stamp in honour of Dr. Pai.

 

It is also home to Syndicate Bank, a leading bank in India, and Hi-tech industries like Manipal Dot Net, the Karnataka Microelectronics Design Centre and Sonia Clinic. Manipal was in the news recently for having the highest density of mobile phone users in the country. 98% of the population have mobile phones. The Manipal Press Ltd, one of largest printers in India, is also located in Manipal.

How to Reach Manipal ?

Manipal, an international university town, is well connected by road, rail and air. There are two main cities close to Manipal, which serve as entry points - Udupi and Mangalore. Udupi is about 5 km from Manipal (10min drive), whereas Mangalore is about 65 km away (1 and a half hour drive).

 

How to fly in ?

You will have to fly to Mangalore airport and come to Manipal by road. There are prepaid taxis available at the airport. Flights coming to Mangalore are Indian Airlines and Jet Airways. The Mangalore airport is connected with Mumbai and Bangalore airports. CALCUTTA and DELHI sectors are connected with Mumbai. Similarly, the Bangalore airport is connected with DELHI, CHENNAI, CALCUTTA and HYDERABAD sectors.

 

How to reach by road ?

There are luxury buses operating between Mangalore and Manipal.

From the North there are direct buses operating from Mumbai and Goa.

From the South, there are buses operating from Ernakulam to Mangalore and Manipal.

There are direct buses operating from Hyderabad and Madras to Mangalore, Udupi and Manipal.

Within the state, Manipal is well connected with the major cities.

 

How to reach by rail ?

If you plan to come by rail, your drop off point would be Udupi and/or Mangalore Railway Station. These railway stations lie on the Konkan route connecting the North and the South along the West coast. Delhi and Mumbai (to the North) Ernakulam (to the South) are linked to the Udupi station.

The Mangalore station is directly connected with Chennai, Delhi, Trivandrum, and Mumbai. Those traveling from Calcutta will have to reach Chennai and then take a connecting train to Mangalore. There is also a train operating from Jammu to Mangalore once a week.
